Sasanka Rathnaweera

Sasanka is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka.

Being a senior partner, he is the Head of Assurance, Audit and Assurance Quality Management (HAAQM) and Accounting Outsourcing Service (FAO). While he serves as the Ethics and Independence Leader and Risk Management Partner, Sasanka is also currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of BDO.

He counts over twenty years of experience in providing Audit and Assurance services in various disciplines including the finance, education, insurance, imports and exports, real estate and property development, manufacturing, telecommunication, healthcare, cargo and freight handling companies in addition to NGOs. Further, he has the exposure in providing Audit and Assurance services for many global companies and numerous foreign referral audits introduced by BDO International. In addition, he is also engaged in business process outsourcing assignments for multi-national companies.

Moreover he has also successfully carried out various international assignments related to the World Bank and the European Union, covering both the finance and performance audits. Sasanka was seconded to BDO Singapore where he had the opportunity of working with multi-disciplined clients of different cultures. 

Besides his responsibilities in the firm, he currently serves as a member of the Annual Report Awards Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
